A new UMTS feature-set has been developed for the K1297-G20 protocol analyzer. With this addition, the K1297-G20 can simulate the Radio Network Controller via the Iu interface while verifying the functions of the UMTS mobile switching center (and vice versa), allowing independent development of the two elements. In addition, the K1297-G20 is said to be the only tool that supports UMTS upper-layer protocols such as Radio Access Network Application Part and mobile radio interface layer 3, which are required for functional testing. The K1297-G20 with UMTS option is priced starting at $188,000 including hardware and software for the simulation, emulation, and monitoring packages.
