Rubidium Atomic Clock Looks To The Heavens
September 2001 Issue
Published Date: September 01, 2001
Designed for use in space applications, the RAFS series rubidium atomic clock oscillator is approved by the European Space Agency for use in the Galileo Global Navigation System. Using a double-oven construction with an SC-cut crystal oscillator, temperature sensitivity is less than 1 x 10-13/day and short-term stability is less than 1 x 10-10 for the first year. Input voltage ranging from 22V to 26V or 8V to 12V is delivered via a 15-pin sub-D and two SMA connectors. The component has a magnetic-field sensitivity of less than 2 x 10-13/Gauss, enabled by using a double magnetic shield. The RAFS is available in 10 MHz only and has a rubidium lamp life of more than 20 years and magnetic-field sensitivity is less than 2 x 10-13/ Gauss.
