Neon Lamps Are Small, Bright And Shock Resistant
June 2002 Issue
Published Date: June 01, 2002
Miniature, ruggedized and designed for applications requiring operation directly from 110/220 Vac, these neon lamps provide brightness levels of up to 5 mcd. Measuring from 3.2 mm to 6 mm in diameter, the lamps are available in standard red or green, with or without a series resistor. In addition to operating directly from AC, the neon lamps can also operate on 90 Vdc or higher and are rated for 15,000 to 50,000 hours of operation. Constructed by mounting two electrodes in a glass envelope with two tin-plated Dumet metal leads, the lamps are filled with either a neon-argon mixture or pure neon, depending on model. Custom blue or yellow lamps are also available. Depending on size, prices for the lamps range from $0.07 each/30,000. GILWAY TECHNICAL LAMP, Woburn, MA. (781) 935-4442.
