Said to be ideally suited for driving dual-channel, low-cost CMOS A/D converters, such as used in various wireless networking applications, the AD8348 broadband quadrature demodulator enables intermediate frequency-to-baseband conversions of 50 MHz to 1 Gz. Besides its demodulator, which includes a dual mixer core and local oscillator phase splitter, the new radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) melds on-chip a 45-dB linear-in-dB variable gain amplifier and singled ended-to-differential amplifiers for driving baseband ADCs. The device is also said to offer high linearity, exceptional amplitude/phase balance, and 60-MHz demodulation bandwidth, enabling it to support most high-order modulation formats, including QAM, QPSK and 8-PSK.
