Touch Monitors Target Gamers
May 2003 Issue
Published Date: May 01, 2003
Available with 17" and 19" true-flat screens, the 1788C and 1988C CRT touch monitors, respectively, are designed for the video- and computer-gaming markets. They employ the company's iTouch technology that allows users to provide input by touching on the tube and an injection-molded bezel with a watertight seal. The iTouch touch-on-tube technology eliminates the standard glass overlay and implements the sensors on the CRT faceplate. Without the glass overlay, brightness is said to be increased by up to 20% with 80% less reflection compared to standard monitors. Additionally, the technology promises minimized parallax. Other features of the monitors include a resolution of 1,024 x 758 pixels at 85 Hz with a dot pitch of 0.25. The main circuit board measures 20 cm x 25 cm.
