PLCC Adapters Said To Outperform Molded Parts
May 2003 Issue
Published Date: May 01, 2003
Users of these new PLCC adapters are expected to achieve more reliable socketing and SMT insertion than with molded parts. The adapters can be inserted into a socket or soldered directly to SMT pads. Four devices in the line—the PL-PLCC44-H-02/52-H-02/68-H-02/84-H-02—feature a precision lead frame assembly, with each frame pin connected to a gold-plated pin, which, in turn, plugs into or solders to a daughterboard assembly. The adapters come with 44 to 84 pins and accommodate PLCC emulators from Microchip, Atmel and other manufacturers. Prices range from $31.75 to $57.70 each/100. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Eagan, MN.
