Quad LVDS Line Receiver Has Hysteresis Input
May 2003 Issue
Published Date: May 01, 2003
Tooled for cell phone base stations, telecomm switches, and network switches/routers, the MAX9179 quad, low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line receiver provides a 50-mV hysteresis input to eliminate unwanted switching at the output. It also employs a flow-through pinout to reduce crosstalk by separating inputs and outputs. The device converts up to four LVDS input signals to low-voltage LVTTL/LVCMOS output levels. Operating voltage is 3.3V and temperature range is from -40°C to 85°C. Two LVTTL/LVCMOS inputs set the four outputs to a high impedance state, reducing power consumption to 33 mW typical. Common to all four transmitters, the enable inputs can accept a 1.0V input and provide GND -1V over- and under-shoot protection. Both inputs and outputs meet IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 ESD spec, ±15kV for air gap discharge and ±8 kV contact discharge. Available in a 16-pin TSSOP, the MAX9179 quad LVDS line receiver has a starting price of $2.15 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
