PFC Converters Deliver Up To 1.6 kW
November 2003 Issue
Published Date: November 19, 2003
Reporting power densities up to 290W per cubic inch, the AIF-PFC series power converters can be configured in parallel for an aggregate output power up to 1.6 kW. This is said to represent a 30% to 40% increase over the company's previous generation converters. The new devices operate over a base-plate temperature range from 40°C to 100°C and achieve an efficiency of 95% with a 230 Vac input. Other features include universal input configuration, current sharing, power-failure warning and adjustment, LD enable, PFC enable, dc-input enable, clock in/out, temperature and current monitors, and positive/negative enable options. Additionally, the converters include a 20-mAdc auxiliary output, input-interruption and automatic fast recovery protection, and a typical power factor correction (PFC) figure of 0.99 at 2.3A. Prices start at $250 each/100. ASTEC POWER, Carlsbad, CA. (760) 930-4600.
