Audio Processor Positioned For Wireless Market

Poised for battery-powered audio applications such as wireless microphones and instruments and personal monitors, the THAT4320S analog audio engine operates from a single-supply voltage from 16V down to 4.5V and consumes just 3.7 mA at 5V. The audio processor in a 28-pin QSOP integrates four op amps, a voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA), and a root-mean square (RMS) sensor. Primarily designed for use as a companding noise-reduction device, the THAT4320S is also suitable for use in single- and multi-band companders, compressors, limiters, and AGCs. Other features include an integrated PTAT reference and a dynamic range of 120 dB when used as a compander. Price is $5.33 each/1,000. THAT CORP., Milford, MA. (508) 478-9200.
