RCT Delivers Up to 3X Reduction in Java Memory Footprint
August 2005 Issue
Published Date: August 11, 2005
Predicting dramatic reductions in application-memory footprint while increasing performance and saving power, the Jazelle RCT (Runtime Compiler Target) architecture now includes optimizations for runtime and ahead-of-time compiler technologies. These include Just In Time (JIT) and Dynamic Adaptive Compilation (DAC), providing support for all Java technologies and other execution environments. Users can expect code-memory-footprint reductions by up to three times, which also results in a reduction in memory accesses and increased battery life. The technology will be deployed in the Cortex-A series application processors for complex OS and user applications. In addition to Java platforms, it operates well with similar technologies, such as .NET Compact Framework. For more details, call ARM Inc., Austin, TX. (512) 327-9249
