Amps Boost Battery Powered WLANs
August 2005 Issue
Published Date: August 11, 2005
Designed for battery-operated WLANs, the SST12LP14A and SST11LP11 power amplifiers for 2.4-GHz 802.11b/g and 5-GHz 802.11a applications, respectively, provide low power consumption and on-chip power detection. The SST12LP14A requires a quiescent current of 45 mA and delivers a 29 dB gain and linear output power of 17 dBm with an ICC of 85 mA. In high-power configuration, the device provides an output power of 22 dBm at 210 mA for 802.11g and 23 dBm at 240 mA for 802.11b. The SST11LP11 requires a quiescent current of 80 mA and consumes 180 mA when delivering 24 dB gain and 18 dBm of output power across the entire 4.9 to 5.8 GHz band with 4% added EVM. Prices for the SST12LP14A and SST11LP11 start at $0.45 and $0.70 each/10,000, respectively. SILICON STORAGE TECHNOLOGY INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (888) 778-2447
