OLED Technology Cuts Power, Boosts Panel Size

November 22, 2006
Detailed as a significant development in OLED display technology, total matrix addressing (TMA) technology forecasts lower power and larger, longer-living display panels. The technology shows potential for use in driver chips to bring active-matrix capabilities to passive-matrix displays. Measurements on small passive matrix displays employing TMA demonstrate at least a 50% reduction in power consumption or exhibit double the display luminescence at the same power consumption. In addition, the technology applies to both polymer and small-molecule OLED displays. CAMBRIDGE DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY, Cambridgeshire, UK. +44 (0)1954 713600.
