Isolators Sustain 15 KV At Distances To 80 mm November 02, 2007
Isolating high-voltage I/O circuits over varying distances, the 15-kV OPI1270 series axial fiber-optic isolators integrate a visible red LED emitter and a phototransistor detector in separate opaque plastic modules. The isolators connect via a flexible optical cable in standard isolation distances of 18 mm, 26 mm, 32 mm, 40 mm, 66 mm, or 80 mm. Custom cable lengths are also available and the emitter’s design does not require the sensor housings to be in precise optical alignment. Power dissipation is 100 mW and the phototransistor exhibits a maximum collector current of 50 mA. Collector-emitter breakdown voltage is 33V and emitter-collector breakdown voltage is 5.5V.
