HV Multiplexers Eliminate External Protection On Switch Inputs

October 24, 2008
The eight-channel MAX14752 and four-channel MAX14753 high-voltage multiplexers specify a maximum leakage current of 20 nA, typical on-resistance of 60 Ohms, and an on-resistance flatness of 30 milliOhms to minimize the voltage errors introduced by series current-limiting resistors on switch inputs. The devices also integrate input diodes to protect against over and under voltages. Of note, they eliminate the need for optical relays, which do not offer over-voltage protection and introduce measurement errors in applications subject to high temperatures. Both devices operate from dual supplies of ±10V to ±35V, or a single supply of 20V to 72V, and specify an operating temperature range from -40?C to +85?C. Available in 16-pin TSSOPs, prices start at $3 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
